Time is the fire in which we burn…

After the CIA attempted to recruit Chris in 11th grade, he had an inkling he was going to be telling stories – as convincingly as possible -- from that moment onward. He studied abroad in Germany and France, and this furthered his affinity for sprawling tales about different cultures, geopolitics,
and life on the edge.

After analyzing emerging markets at an investment firm (good cover if the CIA came calling again), Chris pivoted to writing, directing, and creating stories about troubled men and women battling to find the good in themselves set against SuperTechnirama*-sized backdrops.

 As a screenwriter, Chris has developed feature film projects with Janet Yang (Joy Luck Club, People v. Larry Flynt), Mace Neufeld (Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games), and Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump, The Devil Wears Prada). He was co-chair of the WGA’s Committee of Black Writers for four years. Recently, Chris was a story editor on Seasons 2 and 3 of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard. He currently writes on CBS’ The Equalizer for Season 3.

 As a director, his short film THE CHOP SHOP premiered at the Sundance Film Festival’s original Digital Filmmakers’ Showcase. Chris then went on to direct commercials and several award-winning shorts, including the acclaimed F*CK YOU, PAY ME, ARCHITECTS OF CRIME, and the festival favorite
BLOOM which won “Best International Short” at Da Bounce Urban Fest in Amsterdam,
and over a dozen other awards.

Chris has shadowed on Star Trek: Picard with Terry Matalas and on Hulu’s The Act with Steven Piet. He directed the pilot and second episode for TICKER, a forthcoming digital series, which won “Best Web Series” at the 2021 Amsterdam World International Film Festival. His latest short
QUIET QUITTING is in post-production.

In July 2020, Guernica (the arts & politics journal) published “Sirens” his essay on the panic attacks suffers from when he hears police sirens.

He has a penchant for Russian literature, live theater, and analog medium format photography;
his fine art photographs have appeared in shows in Los Angeles, Berlin,
Cleveland, and Amsterdam.
